When I was just, a little girl....

Would you bully someone who looks like this?

Honestly, I would. Seriously, who wouldn't? Don't you think she looks damn fun to bully? And guess what, very unfortunately, I’m the girl in the pictures above.

OK DON'T LAUGH.
I have normal pictures too:

:D
Heh, so anyway, I was like a big target spot for popular school girls/boys to bully when I was in primary school. I think it was because of my ginormous spectacles :(

And maybe because I was overweight. I ever overheard a classmate secretly told another classmate "I don't want to be friends with Esther because she's in TAF club".

I was seriously hurt when I heard that.

Luckily for me, I wasn't bullied in those directly physical or humilating way (remember that video case where the girl was stripped at the staircase by numerous girls laughing around her?). It was more of an emotional bullying. The popular cliques love to make fun of me using their Queen Bee status.

I was considered unpopular in primary school. I didn't have any stable clique of friends and is usually pushed from one popular clique to another. (At least the girls bothered to fake-nice with me at times) I was always "the girl behind". Whenever it’s time to partner with another classmate, I never have any because I was never anyone's first choice. In P.E. lessons I always had to partner with the gym teacher for situps because I was the only one in class who do not have a best friend :(

I once started a clique of my own with another outcast. When any of the girls from the popular clique kena "kicked out", we will nicely take her in and treat her well but these girls will always go back to the popular clique they come from. I remember walking around the school feeling lonely. Wei shen mer wo mei yo peng yo (T_T)~

I also started a catching game cult during recess when I was in primary 4. The cult grew to a big group, even people from other classes joined in, but I guess not much people knew that I was the original "leader".

The class clowns were funny and popular with the popular girls. I would always admire how these popular girls could be so comfortable and confident around these guys while I’m always that awkward, uncool, clumsy girl.

I kena bullied by these guys alot.
One of the most insulting comment I ever heard was something like: "Eeee Esther's butt so big very disgusting".

Ok, gotta admit, I did had a bigger butt as compared to the petite girls in class. It did left me with a lower confidence after listening to these comments. I felt so unliked :(

Several years later after I got into secondary school, my life changed. I wasn't at the top with the most pretty and popular girls in school but I was not the outcast anymore too! I was in one of the girl cliques that sometimes bullied the lower secondary girls instead. Even though I was bullied significantly lesser, sometimes I got booed though, by some gangster guys that I don't know. Okay lah I know I’m not pretty but there’s no need to say it into my face ok.

After secondary school, the later part of my poly life was plagued with emotional bullying as well because alot of people in my school were fans of Xiaxue, thus they were also a bit biased against me due to her post which expressed her distaste towards me. Often, when I walk down the school corridors, I felt scrutinized and uncomfortable. People were snickering and mocking me from behind. Someone even took a photo of my unflattering back while I was walking and posted it on the web with captions that were hurting. I felt that no one gave me a chance to show how I'm really like and most of them made harsh judgements on me just because of the publicized views of someone famous.

This was how influential someone alike to Queen Bee could be. In school, once you suay suay annoyed the Queen Bee, it's like a social fall. Majority of the people following the Queen Bee would shun you as well. It's like that. It's reality.

However, I think that I'm someone who don't hold grudges for very long. Like even when someone treats me very badly at one time, once they started being nice I'd conveniently forget about the past. (BUT THIS DOESN'T MEAN YOU ALL CAN START BEING NASTY TO ME HOR)

A year ago, I chatted with one of my primary school bully. Haha. I didn't felt any anger towards him at all. I've long put it all behind. These bullies were also once childish. I guess time does heal all wounds.

Speaking of the bullying issue, this new movie called You Again is also a story surrounding the topic!

Successful PR pro Marni (Kristen Bell) heads home for her older brother’s (Jimmy Wolk) wedding and discovers that he’s marrying her high school arch nemesis (Odette Yustman), who’s conveniently forgotten their problematic past.

Then the bride’s jet-setting aunt (Sigourney Weaver) bursts in and Marni’s not so-jet-setting mom (Jamie Lee Curtis) comes face to face with her own high school rival. The claws come out and old wounds are opened in this crazy comedy that proves that not all rivalries are forever.

I watched the preview already and it's really funny! It's also interesting how mother and daughter handle this in different ways.
