Hair Day

Went to do treatment on my hair at my salon "Essensuals Bugis" about a week back! Besides shampooing my hair everyday, I don't really pay much attention to my hair usually so I am highly dependent on Wayne, my hair stylist for nice hair! My hair gets tangled so often because they are really fine. Especially because my hair is long, they also get knotted when I flip left flip right while sleeping at night. But everytime I come out of the salon after treatment, I have fantastic hair!!!

Yes, I wore Benranaway tee to the salon. Haha.

Taking photos while having treatment done on my hair.

Hair after treatment. Looks nice hor? I think so too!!!

Well, if you are planning to do something to your unkempt hair like me, you can consider Essensuals Bugis! There is currently a promo at 50% off! (till end of this month only. faster book your appointment!!!!)

When making appointment, just mention "Estherxie Blog" and state the offer you want! ^_^

Beanstro Breakfast Special

I hate waking up early.
But I also love it when I wake up early.

I hate it when I wake up late because I would feel that I wasted half the day away.
But I also love it when I have the luxury of not having to wake up at a specified time.

Contradicting ya?

The reason why I feel good about waking up early is that somehow, when I do that, the day is longer and I get more things done. Especially during the weekends, I love to pack my day from morning till night with activities! It makes my weekend more fulfilling and Monday comes slower. Haha.

And the next best thing to waking up early? Having yummy breakfast.

I am not a breakfast person because I don't really like to have dry food like bread in the morning. But if my dining table has a spread of hot savoury food like fried bee hoon, chee cheong fun, minced meat congee, chwee kueh, etc, I confirm eat it even if I'm already late for my appointment (and become double my current size in no time.)

Same goes for brunch food. I just love eggs so much. And Beanstro by The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has just what I need with FOUR new egg dishes on the Breakfast Special menu, on top of the already wide variety of breakfast items on the regular menu.

Advertorial: Monsters University

I just enrolled into Monsters University! Spot my name tag slotted between the tags of famous Scarer James P.Sullivan and one-eye monster Mike!

Yes, in Disney•Pixar’s latest movie “Monsters University”, James P.Sullivan and Mike Wazowski are students in training to become the ultimate Scarer!

Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best Scarers come from Monsters University (MU). But during his first semester at MU, Mike’s plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan, “Sulley” (voice of John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer. The pair’s out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University’s elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right.

Screaming with laughter and oozing with heart, Disney•Pixar’s “Monsters University” is directed by Dan Scanlon (“Cars,” “Mater and the Ghostlight,” “Tracy”), produced by Kori Rae (“Up,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc.”) and features music from future Rock-and-Roll-Hall-of-Fame–inductee and award winning composer Randy Newman (“Monsters, Inc.,” “Toy Story 3”).

I was very looking forward to catch this movie as soon as I knew that it was coming to our theaters, because I never forgot how much I loved the movie "Monsters, Inc" starring the same lead characters years ago!

I attended the premiere earlier this week and I must say it's really funny and good!!! It's a lighthearted but meaningful movie that goes way back to the time when both monsters were still students. The interesting part was seeing all the other types of monsters!!! I especially loved the snail who was late on the first day hahahaha. (The scene can be seen in the trailer). The story can be applicable in real life and I think both kids and adults will enjoy this movie.

Check out the "not-very-scary" members of the OK group, which includes our adorable Mike and cuddly Sulley! (Although they are not as scary as the other fiercer monsters, I still think I would be equally scared if I see them beside my bed at night -_-) It was exciting to root for this group and see how they went through the Scare games!!

By the way, I went to take the "Monsters Aptitude Test" (M.A.T.) on Disney Studios Singapore Facebook Page (http://facebook.com/disneystudiosSG) and my score is 991 with 8 out of 10 questions right! Quick, try the test to win premiums and see how good a monster student you can be!

The film is open in theaters NOW, and shown in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.

Showing off Ben's camera

After resigning from my previous job, I had more free time and could finally hang out on weekdays daytime! Just nice Ben is having his holidays and Isaac too. One of us wanted brunch and after texting on whatsapp, we went to prepare and head out immediately! Love how spontaneous this meet up was!

Met up at Ion after Isaac gave us several choices to choose from and most of them being far out in the west, Orchard was the nearer one for me.

Love going out in day time cos photos come out nicer!

(You see the girl behind, not posing also look like supermodel!)

Realize that the sunlight was great that day so we took plenty of photos!

This photo below, we transferred out from Ben's on the spot to instagram. Both me and Isaac love his cam! Photos come out looking better than phone camera quality.

Photo above is of course after filter. The quality is closer to what you see below. I brightened the photo but it's close! I like that the white balance is not yellowish at all.

This orangey one is back to my camera. Haha. Sigh, look at the difference... The tone is much warmer. Some people like it this way but I prefer it to be pure white!

After snapping many photos, it's time for our brunch! But then, brunch time was over or something so we ended up at Marmalade Pantry for normal food. There was a 1-for-1 card promotion, which was actually the main reason why we decided to go in. Haha.

Yellow.

We got four dishes! (You see, so white~~~~ much love)

Wanted desserts after that but we ended up at Starbucks. And this photo is obviously from my own camera :(

But despite me complaining, I can't upgrade my camera yet because my computer broke down recently and I guess that's the priority :( Blogging on bf's laptop now but I want my own.

Jipaban X Blogger Bazaar

Earlier this month, Jipaban held a Lollipop-up X Blogger Bazaar at Zouk! Me, along with many other bloggers, set up little stalls for the day to sell our pre-loves and some brand new clothings to shoppers at awesome prices.

When I reached, there was already a long queue waiting outside! Inside was hectic, everyone rushing around getting ready!

The event was so much fun! A nice gathering session for the bloggers, readers had chances to chitchat and take photos with their favorite bloggers, we got to see Jipaban's new collection first, and lots of super good deals! We also had sweet treats from Humble Beginnings (their crepe cakes are SUPERB), and coffee from Strangers' Reunion.

There were clothes buffet sessions where shoppers pay a small fee to get the Jipaban bag and one minute to stuff all they can into the bag. It is really a good deal! I took part in the special edition session and scored myself a huge bagful of clothes!!! Very easy actually, just anyhow grab everything and squeeze and squeeze and squeeze! Bring home then sort the haul! Haha. One of them even managed to squeeze a big bag into the Jipaban bag! We all looked damn aunty while doing it but worth it lah!

Nook House Of Pancakes

The folks at Nook House Of Pancakes kindly invited me for lunch last weekend. I got my boyfriend and his two friends to join us! I was so excited because I read about Nook's interesting concept on magazines some time back and was very keen to try creating my own D.I.Y pancakes!

The place is a simple set up, with pans like this on every table.

First, when you eat pancakes, you definitely must have a drink in hand. Tea seemed like a good choice!

My ice cafe latte was great! Taste was just nice for me.

We also ordered chocolate milkshake and strawberry milkshake. It was very thick and dense, almost like melted ice-cream!

Some sides we ordered to go with the pancakes. Honey baked ham, scrambled eggs and sauteed mushrooms. They also have other regular breakfast items on the sides menu which you can add on so that it's not just pancakes on your plate.

Easy steps to creating your pancakes!
.

We ordered two sets of batter. Each set gives us two bottles of batter (1-2 flavor) and three toppings. There were five flavors of batter - Original buttermilk, chocolate, banana, strawberry, pandan. We had everything except banana flavor. Rational was, the original color should be close to banana color so if we wanted only four flavors, removing Banana should be the right choice. Our six toppings were peach, blueberries, banana, m&m, cream cheese, and peanut butter. Just realize I didn't try the cream cheese! The pancakes were quite nice on its own, so I didn't really pair with the toppings most of the time.

Fun time begins!!!

My first "drawing" is a pink heart! Simple one to start! Previously I did try making regular round pancakes at home with pancake mix but failed miserably as it turned out too oily, burnt, and light. But the pancakes we did at Nook were easy and nothing was charred! Density was just nice.

Next drawing I did was flower. Simple again ^_^

Meanwhile, the boys were more adventurous! All of them started to whip out their devices and search online for images to draw. This is bf attempting to draw a shark by referencing to an image he found on his ipad.

The other two referenced their phones... This one tried to draw a Hamtaro.

Drawing of Yoshi!

Quite successful lah!

When flipped over it looks like this.

Here are some more random drawings I did! I chose to draw simple drawings throughout.

My drawing of a car! Got headlights one!

Tic tac toe and ice cream.

Seaweed and fish. Bf took the fish and placed it between two round pancakes of the same size and called it fish burger. hahahah.

I did the pizza and chicken drumstick. The dog was done by one of them!

Some of their drawings:

I quite like this one!

This one below supposed to be Snoopy but was ruined within the first few strokes so was changed to become a random cute character. Haha.

Bf did a five-legged octopus!

The whole session was so fun!

There is a monthly ongoing pancake competition. Check out their facebook page for more ideas and other awesome drawings!

Do drop by some day with your friends!
