Skyve New Menu

My 2nd time dining at Skyve! Previously, I went during the day and loved the relaxed vibe. It's such a nice place away from the buzz of the city although it's quite near town! This lovely restaurant is just located a mere few minutes walk from Newton MRT.

This time though, I was there for dinner and the place had a totally different ambiance!

Previously Skyve Elementary Bistro, it was recently renamed to Skyve Wine Bistro, which complements the wide range of wines available in the cellar.

There are three main sections to the restaurant. The outdoors, the sofa area (mainly for after-drinks), and main dining area. I feel that this place is very suitable for birthday or engagement celebrations and yes, the space can be booked for private events and customized accordingly to suit the event size.

There's a live band around the sofa area on Wednesday and Friday Nights as well!

With a newly revamped menu, rest assure that Skyve's main feature, the sous vide cooking technique, is still very much emphasized in food preparation.

Our first course, Oysters ($34 per half dozen). I don't take oysters, but the boys gave it a thumbs up!

Oyster lovers will love Skyve, as they have one whole page on their menu dedicated to different types of Oysters.

Truffle and Thyme Fries were great as sides. The truffle fragrance was strong enough and the thyme salt makes it even better. It is usually served in dimsum baskets..... Cute!

Skyve Beef Tartare ($22++) I was quite impressed with their fine presentation of the food!

Petuna and Ume Somen ($20++)

The Seared Petuna looked and tasted a little like Salmon but more tender. The side was a refreshing appetizer to the meal!

Polenta Mushroom Stack ($34++)
– Mushroom Fricassee, grilled portabello, polenta cakes, seasonal vegetable pesto

This is a vegetarian main course, so we never have to miss out our vegetarian friends ever again. We all ooohhhed and wahhhhed over its beauty when it arrived at our table. You know how vegetarian dishes usually look very bland and boring in comparison with meat dishes? This one though, looks very appetizing with its bright colors! And indeed it was quite nice! It's actually two polenta cakes with a big grilled portabello in between. Yep, like burger.

Spicy Kalbi Beef Short Ribs ($36++). I heard that this dish is very popular, almost a tie with its best-selling Duck Confit, which I intend to try the next time I visit!

My favourite among the main courses we had, was the Sous Vide Poulet ($34++)

Because of the sous vide cooking technique, the meat was tender and smooth. All of us felt that the puree was yums too!

Lamb Rack ($40++). Surprisingly, it wasn't tough like usual lamb meat! I loved the sauce coated on the meat!

Time for Desserts!

We had Mango & Cheese Semifreddo ($12++), which is actually rippled frozen mousse, frozen lime foam, and sable cookies. This was the boys' favourite dessert!

Snicker Bar ($12++), is their variation: salted caramel pudding, peanut better, chocolate ganache, feuilletine, flambed bananas, vanilla gelato.

And finally, my favourite one: Inspired By Reds ($12++) – Strawberry parfait, sous vide strawberry in balsamic vinegar, raspberry sorbet, flower tuile, dehydrated raspberry. I just feel that the raspberry sorbet is such a great end to a plesant meal! It also looks oh-so-pretty with its lady-like design, like scattered rose petals!

Do visit Skyve and have a taste of their revamped menu. I'm sure you will love this place as much as I do!
