Ramen Champion

s I have mentioned multiple times, my favourite ramen in Singapore is Ramen Keisuke Tori King. But it is located far away in Tanjong Pagar, where I seldom go.

Where can I find good ramen, somewhere I often visit? I frequently go to Bugis to do my nails at Millys, do my hair at Bugis Essensuals, or just shop. Most of the time I dine at Itacho when I'm there - my fave Japanese sushi place in Singapore. When I am craving ramen, I go to Ramen Champion.

Ramen Champion is located at Bugis+, level 4. Ramen at Ramen Champion is almost always good because all of them are contenders of a ramen contest, so there is bound to be some level of quality no matter which stall you choose to order ramen from. I was invited to try three of the new names, and will be sharing my verdict in this entry!

First, let me introduce the food from Shodai Koji.

I had the Triple Chashu Ramen, which is my favourite bowl out of the three bowls I tried that day! It has three different slices of meat, in soup that is fragrant and rich. I particularly liked the soup although my dining companions felt that it was slightly salty. Everyone who knows me knows I prefer saltier food.... so if you are like me, you should love this bowl too.

From the same stall, are the best chicken wings I have eaten in quite awhile. It is slightly spicy, crispy on the outside, juicy inside. Must order! It was so good I had a 2nd piece... Haha.

The 2nd bowl we had was the Special from Riki Power Ramen. Generous serving of beansprout, thick noodles, and sweet soup with lots of garlic. The soup is thick and creamy, good for people who prefer "heavy flavor". I personally felt that the noodle is too hard for my liking but I love the charred sides on the meat! It's a little like charsiew!

The last bowl of ramen is from Menya Ryu. Probably the healthier out of the three, the miso-based soup is  lighter.

We also had the gyoza and lobster salad from Menya Ryu. Not too bad! Was quite surprised when I tasted wasabi in the lobster!

My verdict? I will have both the ramen and chicken wings from Shodai Koji the next time I visit!
