Bangkok 2015 - Part 3

SABX2 WANTON NOODLES

We were craving for the wanton noodles we had on Day 1 so much that we decided to go back again on Day 3! While on the way there through the connecting mall from our hotel, we saw casual tees at only 50 baht (SGD2), lingerie at 4 for 100 baht (SGD1 each!), and a shop selling shoes and heels at only 100 baht (SGD4) per pair and we ended up buying so many stuff before we even step out onto the streets! Haha. Shopping in Bangkok is really awesome!

So much fatty goodness in a single pot...

This time, we ordered individual portions of both the pork knuckle rice and wanton noodles.

Missing the noodles so much!

Must visit!

Address: 4/32-33 Soi Petchburi 19, Pratunam, Bangkok, Thailand
Opening Hours: 9am - 3pm

PLATINUM MALL

We went back again because we haven't got enough of shopping! And it was here I got my toe nail torn off, AGAIN. Not sure if I shared about this before, but my toe nail actually flipped out in late 2013 when I dropped a heavy carton on my feet. It was so painful and the entire nail came off. It took me one year to finally grow back and just after 2-3 rounds of pedicure, it flipped off again?!?!?! Super painful :'(

How it happened: We were happily looking at clothes when suddenly my sister moved backwards and her heavy sandals knocked onto my toe nail at an angle that tore it off. Yes, it's very scary. Like one moment I was happily shopping and the next moment I have my entire toe nail off my nail bed. I really didn't feel like shopping anymore and just wanted to rewind time by one minute. At that moment I felt like crying lor!

Worse part: It was still stuck at one corner and dangling there. I couldn't possibly tear it off because it would be extremely painful! So I just let it dangle there while I protected it with gauze for the next few days until it naturally drops off. So now one of my toe nail is nail-less.

Oh well, at least it was already the 3rd day of the trip and not like 1st day, then I would not be able to do massage and shop at the extremely crowded pratunam morning market, or enjoy my trip for at least two days! *positive thinking!*

- - - - -

Bought some Thai snacks from this shop. I am not a fan of snacks so at first I was like, "oh none of my business, you all go in and shop lor I wait outside." When they were almost done, I suddenly remembered I had to shop for some snacks to bring home for my bf and colleagues! I forgot I am overseas or what? Haha. So I faster dashed in and pick out some of the recommended items to bring back home :)

Happy shopping!

So many people on the streets!

ASIATIQUE

Main activity of the day - Asiatique! The easiest way to get there is by BTS skytrain to Saphan Taksin station. Exit number 2, go to the pier and take the shuttle boat.

Family we-fie on the boat!

Asiatique felt like a bigger-scale Clarke Quay! Very happening with restaurants and shopping alleys.

OOTD of the day: Top from www.earthdoll.co ~

Although a touristy place, I do think it will be a nice place to hang out in the afternoon, then dinner at night!

Grandma and mum~

Our main reason for going to Asiatique was to check out the Calypso show, which featured ladyboys. Bought tickets for the 2nd show at 9.45pm as the 1st show was almost filled up and we wanted seats nearer to the stage.

Since we had to wait for the show to start, we had some time to walk around and explore Asiatique!

There was a street performance by this group of guys playing instruments. I seldom get drawn to instrumental music but I found myself extremely immersed in their performance because they played the instruments so well! The music was very pleasant and I stay on to listen longer than I usually would for a street show.

Supported them by purchasing a CD.

Besides fashion and souvenir shops, there were also food kiosks selling interesting food!

Check out these adorable buns!!!!

Coconut crepes, quite yummy!

Time to enter! Each ticket comes with a drink coupon too.

The stage set is quite glam but the content was kind of disappointing and boring at certain segments. According to the rest who have watched it before many years back, it used to be so much better.

After the show, photo opportunities with the ladyboys who lined up at the exit! Apparently the guests are expected to tip, so there weren't many who took photos.

Took the last boat back after the show! We had to pack our luggages that night but before doing so, had to take a photo of my shopping haul!

Afterwards, we had cup noodles for supper in the comfort of our hotel beds. Hehe. Not sure why but cup noodles always taste better overseas than in our own home.

BANGKOK STREETS

Breakfast on Day 4! Grandpa went out to buy some chicken rice back and they were so yummy!!!! So much better than many of the chicken rice stalls in Singapore.

OOTD - Top from www.earthdoll.co
I went to Earthdoll's retail shop at Bukit Panjang Plaza just before the trip to get some casual tops for sunny Bangkok because I know they stock up on a wide variety of tops!

Was actually very tempted to wake up early on our last day in Bangkok for Pratunam Morning Market again but we slept till almost noon. Haha. Went out to walk around the area near our hotel instead.

Saw this stall selling toasted buttered bread. Such simple food but it was soooooo good.

Had Thai iced milk tea! Actually I only post this photo because I am missing from the above photo!

Went to walk around Big C Supercenter~

Buying lots of instant noodles home~

Pizza for lunch (at 4pm!) at The Pizza Company, which is like Bangkok's Pizza Hut. I read somewhere that it is the largest pizza chain in Thailand!

Didn't sit on a tuktuk though! Heard it's around the same price as a taxi but less comfy!

Do you know that bike-taxis are a common sight in Bangkok?

And that pretty much sums up our last day in Bangkok! We didn't do much at all on day 4 because we had a plane to catch and had to leave the city in the afternoon.

Went to Bangkok with 1 luggage and two bags. Came back with 1 luggage and five bags.

So sad to be leaving Bangkok already! Will miss all the street food and cheap buys.

Hope ya all enjoyed my Bangkok entries :) I look forward to going on more trips and blogging more!

    1. Hi Weiling, go to Pratunam Morning Market at around 7am, clothes there are around 60baht - 100 baht each. Can go to chatuchak, their designs are nicer, but range from 100 baht- 200 baht mostly. If you have time, Platinum Mall because got aircon + lots of clothes! Around 200-350 baht on average I think!
