Hong Kong: Causeway Bay

Took the MTR in Hong Kong! We were contemplating to take either the cab or the MTR to Causeway Bay and of course I voted for the MTR just to experience it!

You will never see me so excited about the MRT in Singapore. Haha.

We bought single journey tickets!

Bodacious Bar and Bistro

For our latest mystery makan session, Jacelyn brought us to Bodacious Bar and Bistro, located at 70 Biopolis Street.

Everyone loved the modern industrial interior! There is also outdoor seating, but it was such a hot day that we all chose to sit indoors, with the comfort of aircon!

Group photo before we start. Check out the phone and camera on the table... all in "selfie" mode! Haha.

Sent this photo to my colleagues and they said "Esther is all about food"... Hahaha. Quite an accurate sentence to describe me ya? Good food makes me a very happy girl!

Coffee that Jacelyn ordered. I miss coffee so much! I have been avoiding it ever since I had braces on. I used to have ice latte for almost every cafe visit!

I was spoilt for choice but eventually settled for Duck Confit. Very sinful because there were many fatty bits which I savored. I recommend this if you visit Bodacious Bar and Bistro!

Jacelyn and Fidelis both had the pulled-pork burger. It looked very good on the menu and I almost wanted to order it!

Nadia indulged in steak!

We also had truffle fries to share. Can never resist truffle fries. I also saw prawn paste chicken on the menu! So tempting!

Piccies again! This is what happen when four bloggers hang out. Haha. So many photos whenever we are together! Actually I cut down already. Few years back I snap even more photos!

Churros for dessert.

Really like this photo! One of our better group photos :) We are all in happy colours!

The food at Bodacious was not bad but the best thing was catching up with the girls. Our next gathering would probably be at Fidelis wedding which is coming up in a few weeks!! Time really flies!

Outfit photo outside the restaurant! Shopped with Nadia at Bugis Street awhile back and we snapped up piece after piece including this floral top! The feeling was super shiok because we are both very fast when it comes to buying clothes! Ahem, I hope bf doesn't read this. Haha.

Birthday presents from them. Love!

Hong Kong: Tsim Sha Tsui, Temple Street

We traveled to Kowloon for dinner at Tsim Sha Tsui. Before this trip, I never knew that Hong Kong is actually quite a small country in terms of land space. It's amazing how I could travel from Hong Kong island to Kowloon in less than 30 minutes!

Hong Kong: Wan Chai, Repulse Bay, Aberdeen

During our holiday in Hong Kong, we stayed at The Emperor (Happy Valley) Hotel.

Not a luxury hotel for sure, but I think it's not too bad! Would recommend it if you are looking for an affordable yet not too shabby accommodation in Hong Kong! Located very near Causeway Bay and Wan Chai, it is located in Happy Valley, a peaceful residential area in Hong Kong.

The Lokal

Just some photos taken at The Lokal awhile back when it was still new. Loved the vibe and the good service which many people also mentioned in their reviews. I liked the quirky furniture, as well as the flexibility of customizing our own platter from a list of common breakfast items. The grilled sausages left quite a good impression, and the smoked salmon came in a chunk instead of sliced like how it's usually done outside. Worth a visit!

Afterwards, we headed to The Pinnacle nearby because bf's friend told him that we can pay a few dollars to access the roof garden!

The view was so pretty!

Bf took this photo of me taking a photo of myself. Haha. Anyway, bf and his friend wanted to walk somemore but I was already tired, so I said I will sit on this lawn chair to wait for them. Just as they walk away, I saw a bee coming in my direction so I quickly siam, and ended up stuffing my heel into a pool of mud on the wet grass. Wahlao -_-

Bf's mini stage. Haha.

Outfit of that day was this polkadot dress c/o www.earthdoll.co! I liked the comfy material a lot!

Pince & Pints

I am a huge fan of seafood and when Pince & Pints opened its door few months back with many positive reviews on Instagram, I decided to treat my family to a lobster feast!

Our first attempt to visit the restaurant fell on a wrong day. Took a cab to the place only to find that we went on its off day! On the second attempt I made sure that it was opened that day. Haha.

So here we are, at Pince & Pints! Finally!! I have heard of the long queues and some diners have waited as long as two hours, so I got my sister to be there earlier and take a queue number. By the time the rest of us reached, it was only a 15 minutes wait to be seated.

Just tightened my braces a couple of days before the feast, was so afraid that it would be too painful to eat but luckily it was alright.

We were given the menu and drinks while waiting outside. What was outstanding was that the waiters were all eager to serve and explain the menu to us. Thumbs up for good service! There were only three items on the menu. Four, if you count Grilled Lobster and Steamed Lobster as different.

Finally we settled and the food arrived promptly. I chose the Lobster Roll as it was their star dish. The reviews were all raving about the yummy bread and even though I had very high expectations for it, the taste didn't disappoint me at all! The bread was soft yet a little crispy, fragrant and buttery! Love it very much! The bread was stuffed with generously huge chunks of lobster meat. Personally I am not a big fan of chilled lobster, so maybe a warm version would be perfect! :)

For my next visit, I would definitely order the Grilled Lobster! My sister had it and I was so envious! At first I thought it wouldn't be very big but actually the lobsters served here are huge! Every dish here uses 600g of a whole live lobster. I really liked the texture of the lobster meat!

My dad had the chilli lobster and it was our family's favourite that night. It was Singapore chilli crab style, but with lobsters instead. I feel that not many places do the sauce well, but Pince & Pints did a great job! It has just the right amount of sweetness. After dipping our mantou, we all dipped our fries in the sauce because we still couldn't get enough of it.

Mum chose the Steamed Lobster. The meat was fresh and sweet, good for those who like the original taste of lobsters.

It was an enjoyable dinner and I recommend Pince & Pints to all lobster lovers! The lobsters served here definitely has good quality!

Wore new heels from Charles & Keith warehouse sale (I went crazy there!!! So many pretty heels at irresistible prices) and checkered skorts from New Look. Special mention of the black top from www.stylebliss.com.sg. I really liked that the layered hem adds a special touch to the versatile basic top. I can pair it with almost anything! I also got some other pieces with them, will be posting up more photos soon! :)

ToTT

Finally got myself an air fryer! I recently attended ToTT's 4th anniversary event and before entering the cooking studio, I saw the air fryer selling at an offer price of $98 at the ToTT store and I thought it was too good a deal to miss, especially when the usual price was a hefty $299! Ever since we got it, my family has been using it to fry chicken chunks for supper, while Nadia also got one for herself too and she sent us a photo of her Nutella Cupcakes made using it! Can't wait for her to blog about it and share her recipe so that I can go try too!

For ToTT (Tools of The Trade)'s 4th anniversary, there are awesome discounts in store till end of October if you are keen to get yourself some cooking or baking tools! There are some "We are Four" $4 deals which I think are very worth it!

By the way, between 5th October to 31st October, special 1-hour cooking demonstrations are available for booking at an exclusive price of $28, which also includes a $20 ToTT voucher! You may go to www.ToTTStore.com to find out more :)

I am also giving away tickets to a session of cooking class on 19 October 2014 to 5 X readers! Hong Kong: Victoria Peak

Most tourists to Hong Kong would include Victoria Peak in the itinerary and so did we! Madame Tussaud Wax Museum is located on top of the mountain and one of the ways to get to the top was to take the tram.

Hong Kong: Mongkok, Tsim Sha Tsui

My family finally went on a trip that is not Genting Highlands! We have been going back there year after year and we are starting to get very bored of it already, so this time we wanted to go somewhere further!

Mum is a TVB drama fan and had always wanted to go to Hong Kong to see how it's really like there. Around one month before the trip, we went to the Chan Brother's travel fair but didn't see any itinerary we fancy. After leaving the fair, we walked around Suntec and saw a mini Nam Ho fair and dad randomly took one of the flyer. We liked the itinerary stated and booked a package on the spot!

1.5 weeks before the supposed travel date, we received a call from Nam Ho that they might be cancelling the trip because they didn't meet the minimum pax of 6. We decided to visit the NATAS that weekend and thankfully, when we reached the Nam Ho counter, the lady told us that they finally got another family to join so the tour can go ahead as planned! Was so happy then!

Although we could have went free and easy, I did feel signing up for a tour package was worth it this time. Although it is definitely more expensive than going ourselves, the itinerary was extensive and covered most of the main attractions, plus certain meals. Transport is also included so it was very convenient! We didn't have to do much planning. Another major plus point is that we only had 8 people in the group and the other family was early for all scheduled timings, so we didn't have to wait for late people at all! We clicked quite well including the tour guide and it felt like we were touring with friends!

Usually we go to the airport to eat. Finally we are going there to fly!

Fun fact: This is my first time on a plane.
