TDF Glycolic Acid Peel

Went to Calvin Chan Aesthetic & Laser Clinic at Wheelock Place with Jayne last Sunday! Before you get all too excited, I wasn't there to do anything major. I was invited down to try TDF (Therapeutic Dermatologic Formula) glycolic acid peel. It is fuss-free and close to zero-downtime, making it a popular lunchtime procedure.

I can't explain better, so quoting from their press release: "An alpha-hydroxy acid, glycolic acid is one of the best clinically proven ingredients in the effective removal of the build-up of dead skin cells. As dead surface cells are removed, the production of new collagen in the dermis is stimulated to encourage cellular renewal. It helps to improve ageing or sun-damaged skin by making the skin surface smoother, lightening fine lines, wrinkles, roughness and blotchy uneven skin due to hyper-pigmentation. Long-term use improves the skin's barrier function, resulting in improved hydration, increased firmness and significantly healthier looking skin. It can also help treat oily and acne-prone skin by loosening clogged pores and reducing the appearance of large comedones."

When I reached Nadia just finished her treatment and her skin was glowing! Made me so excited for my turn hehe.

That's me sans makeup and with shades in order not to scare the nurses off. Haha. My skin was very dry and dull before the peel.

I was told that there would be a stingy pain upon application so I was quite nervous at first. But it was bearable and for a very short while only! I have very low tolerance for pain, so if I think it's fine, it must be not pain for you all normal people. Haha.

Cookie from the peeps at the clinic! ^_^

They told me that I could put on cosmetic makeup immediately after the procedure and so I did, before heading down to Robert Timms for a quick bite as I was famished. Did not have time to eat lunch beforehand and it was mid-afternoon already. Jayne had to leave immediately after the treatment so it was alone-time for me. Kinda enjoy such slow and free afternoons where I could sip on my coffee and think about stuff!

I have no idea why my initial plan for "quick bite" turned into this.

Outfit of the day: My bottoms are from MissQueenie. Have it in another color too! It's quite girly and unique :)

Afterwards, we had movie at 5PM so dinner has to be at 4PM. And so, I ate again ~.~ It was almost right after!

Gillman Barracks

Last weekend, we went to look at art galleries at Gillman Barracks. It was a simple beautiful place showcasing contemporary art in different ways.

Interesting ya?

I like this one below.

There was series of waterfall art by an artist called Hiroshi Senju. His works were indeed amazing.

Plenty of other good paintings, abstract and photography art too, which I did not photographed. The visit here totally make me want to find all my old art materials and start on a painting!

Restless

I think I live like I am in the army. I just can't really do much during the weekday because of irregular hours at work, so I cherish my weekends a lot. I just cannot waste my weekend away by staying at home whole day for both days. I look forward to the weekends every weekday, so I always make plans in advance.

One fateful weekend, I ended up with no plans at all. I had planned to rest on Saturday and head out with my girl friends on Sunday but the meet up was cancelled last minute so I ended up being really restless at home. I wanted to go out, I wanted to breathe in the weekend fresh wonderful air. Most of my friends already had other plans so it was good when Isaac told me his plans got cancelled last minute too! Wee!

Met up in town for dinner. Had Japanese! Wanted ramen but was told they ran out of the noodles. Sigh! Settled for something else in the end, which was only so-so. My chawanmushi and Isaac's sashimi was really good though.

Roses are beautiful but they have thorns too

You come across a garden of roses. It is so enchanting that just one look at it and you jump right into the bed of pretty petals. At first touch, the petals are soft and warm.

But you can't float on top of the petals forever. You fall deeper, and touch the thorns. It's painful. But for the beauty, you let the thorns hurt you.

Ardents

It was my turn to bring the girls somewhere for Mystery Makan!

I decided to bring them to Ardents at 80 Neil Road.

There was outdoor seating which was beautiful, but luckily Fidelis chose the indoor seating because it was scorching outside!

Inside, was a totally different "feel". Very homely!

There weren't many people when we were there for lunch. I guess it is more crowded at night, as they have a bar counter too.

More photos of the interior. Told ya it looks homely! Seem like a suitable place for Christmas parties. Haha.

Someone ordered "Golden Shower". I was thinking... "What a beautiful name!" but Nadia shared the meaning behind the name and we were like... Ewwwwww. The drink was quite untouched for the rest of the meal. It was not very tasty either. Not sure if that has anything to do with knowing the meaning behind the name. Haha.

We all had all-day-breakfast! Most of us ate the same (Eggs Benedict with Bacon/Ham) so... just some photos!

I love my platter! It had everything I love. Bacon, smoke salmon, mushrooms, sausage, sunny side up... Yums!! If only they had sauteed potatoes too, it would have been excellent.

After lunch, we went outdoors to take photos in the lovely front yard.

My floral dress with mesh is from Coccomomo.com! Sweet right? So suitable for a place like Ardents ^_^

Me on a swing. Beside the swing are some rabbits with too much eyeliner. Haha.

All of us came in a different shade of blue, although there wasn't any "blue" dresscode for the day! I love all of their outfits too!

I'm looking forward to the next Mystery Makan session with them!

Cable Cars and Sentosa

This could be my most backdated entry ever. It was almost 3 months ago I went to Sentosa, and only now I'm blogging about it. Reason being was the huge number of photos I took that day, which I was too lazy to sort out. Finally! I managed to finish shortlisting some photos among several repetitive angles, deleting the photos that were not so nice, editing and re-sizing the photos.

I love going to Sentosa. It feels very much like an outing every single time, maybe because it's on an island separate from Singapore.

This time, instead of getting there via the monorail, we took the cable car from The Jewel Box!

There was an "Angry Birds" showcase during that time... Not really a fan, but this real-life shooting thing is so cute!

An obligatory photo with the Angry Birds! My fave is actually the blue one, which looks more sad than angry. Haha.

I have not taken cable cars for quite some years already I think. The last few times were the ones up the mountains to Genting Highlands, which were quite scary when the wind swayed the cabins and far down is a forsaken forest. I totally forgot about the scariness though, until I took it again this time.

Was scared to bits, but beautiful view!

Across the seas.... I can't swim, so it was definitely nerve-wrecking for me. Can't wait for the ride to be over!

Almost there!!

Take a photo to distract myself. Hehe.

And finally!!! I reached the other side safely. Phew! Reason why I was so scared was because I stupidly went to read up on the Sentosa cable car accident that happened in the 80s.

I'd stick to cabs or monorail in the future. Haha.

First thing we did was to take the Luge. I love this!! It's such a thrill to be riding down the slopes at high speed.

Haha, you see my nail polish and you know it's from quite some time back.
